On the Tour:
A retired teacher, who took up watercolor painting and then learned to carve gourds. I have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. My husband and I have lived in Augusta all of our married life, which is now going on 40 years. I started painting at the Augusta Senior Center on Tuesday evenings, anyone can just walk in and join us. I then made my way to Beaver Creek Reserve and the Chippewa Valley Watercolor Artists, a wonderful, encouraging group that have become good friends. They meet the first Wednesday of every month from 9 to noon and welcome anyone with open arms. Since then I have taken classes from other Wisconsin artists and have much to learn, but am amazed at how far I have come. After hearing the "Gourd Girl" on WPR, I contacted her and Terri Schmit came up and taught myself and few of my friends how to carve gourds and I have been hooked ever since. The process is long, so they aren't massed produced. You can be rest assured that they are unique and no one will have one exactly the same.
