"Because I, as well as so many other people, love
to eat & cook from hand made pottery, I design my pieces to be bothpractical as well as beautiful.
"After growing up in Madison, Wis., I went off to University in Eau Claire, Wis., where I earned a
BFA in ceramics. Then, in 1976, I decided to become a full-time potter. Since then I have been crisscrossing the midwest doing between 25-30 art fairs a year.
"Every aspect of production is done by myself. I design & hand throw each piece on the potter's wheel. I also create & formulate all the glazes & stains I use to decorate my pieces. The pots are fired in a hand-built electric kiln to 2400F. All my pottery is designed to be food, dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe."--Susan Koehler
